Hotel Orion Várkert is the first privately owned and operated hotel in Budapest. Surrounded by medieval houses, it has been redecorated and refurbished several times over the years.

The Hotel Orion Várkert has a unique location on the Buda side of the town in the district I. Traditional thermal baths, well-known monuments – the Citadel, the Castle District with small restaurants and shops in medieval buildings, the Royal Castle, Mattias Church, Fisherman’s Bastion are all nearby, most of them within walking distance.


Prior to partnering with Guestcentric, how did you feel about your previous Hotel Website and booking engine?

With our initial website provider, the web design service was too rigid and not very flexible. We were obligated to have our homepage set up and designed by them, but they were very strict on design, fonts, and colors. Because we did not have much influence over our own homepage and website, we decided to end the contract and move to different providers for our website and booking engine.

But this too had some pitfalls, namely that the provider discontinued their service in September 2020, and also did not deliver on deploying the Hungarian language on our website. It was at this point that we were contacted by the Guestcentric team.


What influenced your decision to partner with Guestcentric?

Orion Varkert is the first Hungarian hotel, so it was critical for us to have the Hungarian language option available on our website. Our previous provider promised this, but ultimately did not deliver. When we engaged with Guestcentric, the team told us: "As the first Hungarian hotel, you should have a Hungarian website." This was a very attractive offer for us, and a key factor in our decision-making process.

In Hungary, some hotel chains have their own design and homepages which look better than independents. Although we briefly considered joining a small chain for this reason, we ultimately chose Guestcentric as we felt the integrated website and booking engine solution was a better fit for our hotel.

I am highly satisfied with Guestcentric’s customer support, and the live chat continues to be extremely valuable for our business. However, I would like to give a special mention to Marta Pinheiro from the customer support team. She is always super hands-on with any queries we may have. After learning what we were trying to achieve on our hotel website, she set up a Google Meet on the spot to help me through the process. Every time we have a doubt or small issue, she is there to help. We have nothing but good experiences with her and Guestcentric’s customer support team.

We are excited to see that Czech and Norwegian are in the pipeline for the platform.
